“…God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.”
Lord, this is an example of common faith (as opposed to saving faith). In Wycliffe “Saviour (Gr. Soter) is used in the sense of “deliverer” which can have a wider and a narrower meaning.
Paul’s concept of God is such that all blessings, deliverances, and kindly providences which men experience are to be attributed only to him
Mt 5:45 “Matthew 5:45, NIV: “that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” … For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
In a special and higher sense, He is the deliverer of those who believe unto eternal salvation.
