Does God tempt us? – James 1:13, 18

“God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.”

“In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of the truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.”

James addresses the issue of temptation and notes that not only is God not tempted by evil but “He does not tempt anyone.”

In fact, He is so far from evil temptation that we are regenerated by His will. This is the polar opposite.

Again, and again, this is election. By “His will” not ours.

How is this? By the word of the truth as Romans 10:17 states “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”

Thank you, Lord, for the clarity of your word.
