"It wasn't a potential atonement actuated by the sinner, it was an actual atonement initiated by the savior."

Revealing the Second Coming of Christ

That which happens in the book of Revelation occurs during the following sequential end days:

  • the Rapture – where dead and living saints in Christ are “caught up” to Heaven and receive their glorified bodies (1 Thess 4:15-18 and Rev 3:10),
  • the Tribulation – a 7 year period of God’s wrath upon the earth (2 Thess 2:7-12, Rev 6:1 – 18:24),
  • the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the Battle of Armageddon – (Rev 19:11-21),
  • the Millenium (1,000 years) Period (Rev 20), and
  • New Heavens and New Earth (eternity) (Rev 21).

4 Sevens

Revelation speaks of:

  • 7  Churches,
  • 7 Seal Judgements,
  • 7 Trumpet Judgements, and
  • 7 Bowl Judgements

Chapter One – From and To

Around c. A.D. 94-96, John, who has been exiled to the Isle of Patmos, a Roman prison colony, has been instructed to “write” what he hears and sees in a vision orchestrated by God.

From the Trinity (Rev 1:4) To John, the 7 Churches in modern Turkey, and all believers throughout history.

Revelation is the only book, in verse 1:3, to offer a blessing to those who read, understand, and obey this book.

Chapters Two and Three – letter to the Seven Churches

Christ writes to 7 actual churches, which are typical of all churches throughout history and even today – Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.

Only 2 churches – Smyrna, the persecuted church, and Philadelphia, the loving church are without rebuke.

4 churches are commanded to repent (interestingly, Jezebel and those with her in Thyatira, but not the church, are also commanded to repent).

3 churches – Smyma, Philadelphia, and Thyatira are commanded to continue to be faithful.

Note:  Revelation 2:13, “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to my name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.”  This was addressed to the church of Pergamon.

When Adolf Hitler ruled Germany from 1933-45, he commissioned Albert Speer to design an immense arena for the soldiers and German citizens to hear his speeches. When you see videos of Hitler’s speeches, this is the arena Speer built. It was designed after the Altar of Zeus. This is the same Throne of Satan spoken in Revelation 2.

Today, in Berlin Germany, the Pergamon Museum houses the Altar of Zeus, also known as the “Throne of Satan”.  This altar is not a replica, it’s the actual Altar from Pergamon in Turkey.

Chapter Four – the Characters in Heaven and the Throne of God

Heaven includes the Creator – the Trinity, and the Created – Angels and the Saints.

Heaven has a magnificent Throne occupied by God the Father, with Jesus Christ at His right hand, and the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

24 elders representing the Saints are present, as well as

4 Living Creatures or Angels and myriad upon myriad of other angels.

Note: See Ezekiel’s vision of God’s throne with the same 4 Living Creatures starting in 1:4 – face of a man, ox, lion, and eagle. Eze 1:20 “wherever the Spirit wanted them to go, they went…”

The Saints and Angels glorify God with praise and worship in words and songs.

Chapter Five – Jesus Christ takes back the Title Deed to Earth – Good vs. Evil

2 Cor 4:4 states that Satan is the god of this world.

In Revelation 5:7 “And He (the Lamb) went and took the scroll from the right hand of Him (God the Father) who was seated on the throne.”

Revelation 5:13 “…every creature in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and in the sea…saying to Him…be blessing and honor and glory…”

Philippians 2:9-11 “Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”

Matthew 27:29 “…and kneeling before Him, they mocked Him, saying ‘Hail King of the Jews'”

Revelation 16:10-11 “…People gnawed their tongues in anguish and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds.”

Notice 5:10 “And you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” This same promise is in Rev 1:6 “and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father…” These will be the saint’s new roles post Rapture – a political element of leadership and a spiritual element as connectors between God and humanity. This is a glimpse into what we will do in Heaven. See also Exodus 19:6 and 1 Peter 2:5,9.

Chapter Six – Christ’s Wrath with Seven Seal Judgements

1st seal:  Revelation 6:2 “the white horse” – temporary false peace where the world embraces globalism and the rule of the anti-christ without a fight,

Note:  1 John 2:18 “…as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared…”  The “Antichrist” which 2 Thessalonians 2:3-7 teaches (the day of the Lord) “has not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed…and you know what restrains him now…only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.”  It is important to recognize that the Holy Spirit restrains lawlessness (Gen 6:3 and Rom 8:2). The fact that the Holy Spirit indwells believers (John 14:17) is another indication that the Rapture will take place prior to the Tribulation and the revealing of the Antichrist.

2nd seal:  Revelation 6:4 “a red horse” – war after the false peace,

3rd seal:  Revelation 6:5 “a black horse” – famine,

4th seal:  Revelation 6:8 “a pale horse” – death for 25% of the world,

5th seal:  Revelation 6:9 martyrdom of the “souls of those slain” – are those who accept salvation during the tribulation,

6th seal: Revelation 6:12 great earthquake, the sun becomes black, the moon becomes like blood, stars fall from the sky, the sky is split apart like a scroll, every mountain and island are moved out of their places, mankind hides from the wrath of God (vs. repent).

Note: Matthew 24 details the events above starting in Vs. 3 “…tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?…vs. 4 “…Jesus answers…vs. 5…many will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ…vs 6…and you will hear of wars and rumors of wars…but the end is not yet..vs 7…nation will rise against nation…and there will be famines and earthquakes…vs 8 all these are but the beginning of the birth pain. Vs 9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated for my name’s sake. vs 10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise…vs. 12…because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world…and then the end will come. Vs. 15 So when you see the abomination of the desolation spoken of by the prophet Danel….vs 16 then…flee…vs 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world. Vs 22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be cut short…vs. 29 Immediately after the tribulation…the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Vs 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven…Vs 31 And He will send out His angels, with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds…”

(Note: 7th seal judgment is revealed in Revelation Chapter 8.)

Chapter Seven – the Characters on Earth and revival

Revelation 7:4:  144,000 Jewish evangelists are elected from 12 tribes of Israel and sealed with the protection of God.

Note:  Since the 144K are “sealed” (protected) they will walk into the Millenium as living humans along with Tribulation Saints who have not been martyred.

Revelation 7:9: the fruit of the 144K evangelists – “a great multitude which no one could count…these are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

Why study Revelation?

1 Peter 3:14-15 “…Do Not Fear…but (be) ready to make a defense for those who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you…”
